Marijuana To Be Sold In Canada Pharmacies

Medical marijuana is completely legal in Canada. Authorized patients are allowed to use medicinal cannabis, but the only authorized way to buy medicinal cannabis is via mail-order. That is about to change very soon if pharmacies have their way, The Globe &Mail reports.

Shoppers Drug Mart Corp. has held multiple meetings and phone conversations with licensed medical-marijuana producers across Canada over the past year about carrying a variety of brands in their drugstores, according to people involved in those conversations.

The largest chain in Canada is aiming to sell both branded and white-labeled cannabis. According to the CEO of Peace Naturals Project, Mark Gobuty, a number of other pharmacies are also exploring a way into the industry. The serious potential for full legalization is the main factor driving the interest for the marijuana industry. Additionally there was recently introduction of cannabis oil and its growing acceptance takes its part, as the MMPR program, overseen by Health Canada, is close to its second anniversary.
